Welcome to TransiStory, a dice game about transitioning to green energy sources. Three players will each take on the role of the Past, Present, and Future of the Ruhr region in Germany, an area that has a long history with coal extraction but which must now find alternative energy solutions. You will have to simultaneously ensure that the needs of your citizens are met and that what you pass on to future generations is helpful, not harmful.

TransiStory revolves around two central mechanics. You first invest in energy cards by attempting to fill their values with your resource dice. Once you start collecting these cards, you may transition them into the future along with precious resources. Transition renewable energy and your group will earn achievements; transitioning polluting energy, meanwhile, will result in chaos and irreparable damage.

Be careful, though—rejecting polluting energy does not mean that it cannot do harm. Spread your resources too widely or fail to invest quickly enough and you may be confronted with a Disaster, making the rest of the game harder for all three of you. You will each have to balance your immediate concerns with your long-term goals.

Spend wisely, help one another, and transition into a better future!

There are two options for printing out the cards. The easiest option is to simply print out the attached pdf double-sided. But if you prefer, the cards are sized to match the dimensions of conventional playing cards - print the pdf single-sided, then glue the cards to the fronts and backs of a spare pack that you no longer need.
